Empowering India’s Ethanol Innovation and Performance: a Look Back on an Insightful Event

Date

From April 22nd through 24th, we welcomed the Indian Grain Ethanol Manufacturers’ Association (GEMA) to the Lesaffre Campus for a 3-day event balancing visits, keynotes, and insightful roundtables.

The Grain Ethanol Manufacturers’ Association, founded in September 2023, is a rising association in India, gathering 100+ grain-based ethanol distilleries. GEMA is committed to supporting the ethanol industry in achieving “one industry, one voice” for grain-based ethanol producers across India. With common values bringing us together – commitment to collaboration, quality, and sustainability – these 3 days were the opportunity to advance discussions on the current state of the Indian industry, attend thought-provoking keynotes, visit state-of-the-art facilities, and gather insights from international field experience being shared.

During the event, the attendees were treated to a comprehensive agenda that covered crucial topics: global market trends, ethanol process optimization, production monitoring, feedstock variability, and so on. The program, led by our Indian and global team, was complemented by keynotes from Lesaffre and guest speakers, sharing experiences as a Group. The event also included guided tours of production facilities, training spaces, and RD&I locations.

One of the highlights of these 3 days was the technological session, where we introduced our latest innovation in yeast technology and services to revolutionize bioethanol production. The interactive discussions and demos allowed the audience to gain a deeper understanding of how these advancements can directly benefit the industry.

However, the event was not just about imparting knowledge; it was also about fostering meaningful connections and collaboration. Throughout each day, all had opportunities to network with our team and fellow industry peers, exchanging ideas, sharing best practices, and exploring potential partnerships.

As we look to the future, we are looking forward to continuing our collaboration with the Grain Ethanol Manufacturers’ Association and supporting the growth and development of the bioethanol industry in India. This event was all about fostering a spirit of innovation, knowledge sharing, and collective progress, and we believe that it will shape the industry’s trajectory for years to come.
